The body uses energy to carry out its vital processes such as breathing and blood circulation, digest, regulate your body temperature and perform other functions vital to stay alive.

the answer is yes, but how; so here are some things to ensure you improve your basal metabolic rate (BMR) even during your rest times.

 

1) EAT MORE PROTEIN:

In a study about obese women reported that women who ate eggs for breakfast ate fewer calories at lunch than those who ate a cereal breakfast.

2) SLEEPING IN A COLD ROOM:

According to a study conducted by the National Institute of Health, sleeping in a cool room helps you stimulate the metabolism and burn calories faster, the results were as follows:

Those who sleep in an average room temperature of about 19 C° burns 7 times more calories than those who sleep at 24 C°.

 3) SHOWER WITH COLD WATER:

A study shows that taking a cold shower increases metabolic rate significantly.

A person who takes a cold shower may burn an average of 75 calories and up to 400 calories, and this depends on the duration and temperature of the water used.

4) DRINK A LOT OF WATER:

A study of 14 healthy people of normal weight reported that drinking 500ml of water increased the metabolic rate by 30%. The increase occurred within 10 minutes and reached its maximum after 30-40 minutes.

This means that drinking water several times a day ensures that you burn more calories, so don’t hesitate to drink enough water.

5) IMPROVE THYROID FUNCTION:

Research has proven that  thyroid hormones have a stimulating effect on metabolic activities, which leads to an increase in the basal metabolic rate.

Through a diet rich in zinc, available in, poultry, nuts, and red meat  also some seafood, as well as whole grains and dairy products, thyroid hormone can be activated.

6) COOKING WITH MEDIUM-CHAIN TRIGLYCERIDE OILS (MCT):

To increase your metabolism you can cook with medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) oils that are extracted from coconut oil.

Medium-chain triglycerides contain about 10% fewer calories than long-chain triglycerides, which are found in foods such as olive oil, nuts, avocado, and butter.

MCT stimulate the secretion of hormones that can support feelings of fullness and can also boost metabolism for up to 6 hours.
